Introduction to the 2021 National Standard of Competency for Architects and

Continuing Professional Development Requirements for NSW Architects with Dr Kirsten Orr

Description:

The Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) published a new edition of the National Standard of Competency for Architects on 1 July 2021 (2021 NSCA).

The 2021 NSCA requires architects to develop competency in meaningful engagement with First Nations Peoples and understanding and respecting Country, and

sustainability, life cycle assessment and whole life carbon to support a built environment that mitigates and adapts to the impacts of climate change.

NSW architects are required to base their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) regime on the 2021 NSCA.

Effective from 1 July 2022 the NSW Architects Registration Board introduced changes to CPD requirements for NSW architects. This includes new mandatory content requirements for Formal CPD to address the 2021 NSCA, changes to when and how often CPD reporting is required, and how CPD is to be recorded.

This webinar will help you better understand the regulatory requirements and compliance obligations pertaining to your practice as an architect in NSW.

It will introduce you to the 2021 NSCA and is designed to answer your questions about changes to NSW CPD requirements.

At the end of the session, participants should understand

•      why competency standards were originally developed for Australian architects and how their application has evolved over time

•      features of the 2021 NSCA, including new structure, new content and explanatory notes

•      changes to CPD requirements for NSW architects effective from 1 July 2022.

Kirsten is currently a Director of the AACA and a Member of the AACA Accreditation Management Committee.
