Designing for Sound: Acoustic Principles in Architecture

Presented by Samuel Johnson | Resonate Consultants
Monday 25th August

Join us for a focused CPD session exploring the essential principles of acoustics in architecture, from concept to construction. Sam Johnson of Resonate Consultants will guide us through the theory, risks, and practical applications that underpin high-performance acoustic outcomes in buildings.

Key Themes:

  • Managing acoustic risks during design and construction (PC16)
  • Acoustic theory, lessons from history, and early design research (PC25, PC28)
  • Sustainable systems and material selection for sound performance (PC33, PC39, PC45)
  • Navigating acoustic consultancy, products, and documentation (PC44, PC47)
  • On-site QA, defect resolution, and real-world case studies (PC54, PC56)

Learning outcomes,

  • How to speak the language of acoustics with consultants and engineers
  • How small changes in specification can create major ripple effects
  • How to optimise acoustic outcomes across partitions, ceilings, and coordination
  • How to apply insights across sectors through real project examples
