 Drawing the City

Presented by David Holm – COX Architecture
Monday 20th April

SPUN INVITES YOU to an inspiring evening that celebrates the art, memory, and meaning of cities through the eyes of one of Australia’s leading architects, urban designers, and artists David Holm

In this special SPUN event, David will take us on a hand-drawn journey across the globe, sharing insights from over four decades of sketching more than 500 urban spaces. From the timeless piazzas of Venice to the dynamic skylines of Shanghai, and from London’s historic squares to the vibrant streets of Dhaka, his work captures not only architecture, but the cultural narratives that shape each city’s identity.

The city—whether organically grown or carefully masterplanned—remains one of humanity’s greatest inventions. Through David’s drawings and stories, we are invited to reflect on how urban spaces hold our collective memory, shaping who we are and how we live.

This event will feature highlights from Drawing the City, a remarkable collection of detailed sketches that celebrate the richness, diversity, and beauty of life within dense urban environments.

Whether you are an architect, designer, student, or simply a lover of cities, this is an evening not to be missed. Come and be inspired
